I think this is a really cool feature for mobile devices! It could possibly be used for patients who are reading a med guide and this picture of a QR-code could be printed inside for a patient to scan and go to a website for more information. These codes can hold up to a maximum of 7,089 characters, while a traditional bar code can only hold 20 digits. I would be interested in any other ideas for this as I'm sure there are many!

This actually sounds like a great idea especially for patients searching for OTC products and are too shy to ask about the product. Bar codes could be spread throughout the OTC area near the most important medications that have risk for intoxication. This would be a important tool for patient education.
